What did we learn from our research? Survey (analyses)

As my last post said, I have created a survey so I could gather some data in people knowledge on their rights when it comes to how company/people storing their personal data.

The results where quite surprising as a significantly high percentage of the people that took the survey did not know their rights or know the name of the law that protect it.

Before we go through some of the numbers that we got from our survey, it is important to say that this survey was taken in a university environment, only eleven participants and the majority of the answers came from international student. Take this information as you please.

To understand better this worrying results lets dive into getting to know better the people that took the survey, and for that, I have implemented some key questions on our survey, and they were:

Age

As you can see in the picture, we had a good range of age. Therefore it is not possible to say that a high percentage of people that don't have the knowledge of their right is affected by age.

Gender

In this question, we can notice how gender is predominant in the class that we take. Do not take this as granted as the result of the research was not affect as the female student that took the survey also did not know her rights.

Are you in education?

As expected, all the responses are from my class colleagues, and we are all in full-time education.

Do you feel safe online?

Looking at this question, we can see that even though people don't know their rights in regards to their data online, the majority still feel safe. The key here for me is that we could not gather data why do people feel safe online even though the majority do not know what their rights are.

Analyzing the data

Upon further analogy of all the data that we have collected, it is possible to say that 55 per cent of the volunteer that took the survey does not know their right when it comes to their data being stored online. However, the other 45 per cent that has allegedly said that they know their right does not know what GDPR is and what stands for, that leads us to believe that people does not know what their rights fully are.

Therefore we can conclude that 99 per cent of the people that have taken this survey do not know their rights when it comes to their personal data being stored online. That fact is worrying as their personal data could be used without their content without they even know.

  1. Hi

It seems that you have posted very few posts lately.

As we have discussed previously there is a possibility to have more than 30 posts.

Please complete pending work from the list to reach the target and have full opportunities to score more in final assessment.

Please refer to the list of posts available on blackboard (under announcement section) and please work towards completion of remaining post(s).

We have to put additional effort to ensure we have more than the minimum required posts, with great detail, references, images, diagrams, tables, charts and even videos wherever there is a scope for them.

    many thanks
