Cambridge Analytics and Facebook Case study-Method

How did the app work? That is simple. The main aim of the app was not only gathering the information from the user that was taking the questionnaire but also to take information on their friends. Information like what did they like in their Facebook, what did they research, who did they friend, where did they go, what group page do they take part, all this information was gathered and processed to create a profile on the user and their friends. (Ma and Gilbert, 2019)

Facebook denies having any knowledge of this event. However, Christopher Wylie ex-employee of Cambridge Analytica, now most known as the whistleblower, affirms that Facebook had knowledge of what they were doing and kept quiet for two years. (Ma and Gilbert, 2019)
