Cambridge Analytics and Facebook Case study-Literature Review

This scandal is based in Cambridge Analytica harvesting personal data with an app which is linked with Facebook. However, Facebook claims no knowledge of the incident until it was too late. On this app the user would fill question to get a personality result; nevertheless to say that the question did have nothing to do with the app but to do with creating a profile on the user which later would be processed and used in political campaigns in the relevant countries. (Ma and Gilbert, 2019)

Is believed that Cambridge Analytica has gathered data from around 87 million of Facebook users, this number can not be confirmed as is can be more or less. The data gathered was used in political campaigns such as the President Donald Trump election, which helped him gather information in his electors, so he could influence them. (Ma and Gilbert, 2019)

Cambridge Analytica was created by the Russian Physiologist Professor from the University of Cambridge, Mr Aleksandr Kogan and SLC(Strategic Communication Laboratories). Was Mr Kogan, who personally created the questionnaire. (Ma and Gilbert, 2019)
