Data protection
Data protection has become a well-known issue in the new word. People, customers like to believe that their personal information is being well kept and looked after, but the reality is slightly different. But when and how it all started?
We can say that the scandals started with Yahoo back in 2013 when they were hacked, and three billion people got their information leaked. Still, Yahoo did not disclose that breach until 2016 when they come forward and initially declared that one billion people information were leaked but after a lot of digging was discover that the original number was three billion. The first attack opened the door for more hackers and led to 2014 when a Russian hacker got five hundred million accounts credential. The second attack was not only damaging for the customers but also for the company when the US Securities and Exchange Commission fined the company thirty-five million dollars. (Saraogi 2020)
That was just the start of the scandals. However, the world did not take it serious enough as everyone thought that would be an isolated case and would not happen again, therefore it did happen again with Friend Finder Network in 2016, Myspace 2016, Linked In 2016 and others but is a talk for another day or better saying another post.
